What to do if you see a UFO
1. Call the police. UFO means "unidentified". They will want to come investigate. Take as many photographs as you can, even if it is late or you just have a cell phone camera. Video is also great. Call your neighbors or a friend to also see the UFO if possible. The more witnesses the better.
2.As soon as possible, write everything down. Pretend it's a crime scene. Date, time of day, direction, exact location, other witnesses, duration of sighting or encounter, shape, color, lights, weather conditions no detail is too small.
Have all witnesses write down all they saw. Don't let the witnesses confer with each other. The more the accounts are alike or different is very important..
3.Check with your local newspaper. See if anyone else viewed the UFO. Explain your sighting to them. Share with them any photographs you have taken. See if there are any local astronomy groups. They are familiar with what is in the sky. A good plan for UFO spotting is to join a local astronomy club to get familiar with the night sky.
4.Check with you local College or University. If they have an astronomy teacher ask to speak with them. Also sites like the JREF forum (www.randi.org) while skeptic in nature have many astronomers that will be glad to help answer your question of "WHAT was that". Share any photographs with any astronomers you contact.
5.Check the area where you saw the UFO again and again. Try for the same time and location. See if it returns or there is a pattern. Check back with the people you have contacted from police to astronomers to see what they've found out, and share any new information you've found.
