Alien Abduction Experts With Too Many Symptoms, Too Little Sympathy
Alien abduction experiences are real
Badalien is a mixture of both skeptic and abudtee experiencers. But the one thing we all agree upon at Badalien is that alien abduction experiences are real. That's because people have them. The what and why of those experiences are what is debated. But there should be no doubt that an alien abduction experience is real, and it is very disturbing.
Some people have the opinion that alien abductions are very commonplace and happen to a great many people. However, most people don't remember the experience. Any simple time loss or unusual dream or sleep issue or even a vague feeling of unease is seen as proof that an abduction experience has happened. The problem is that there are many other reasons for having any of these things. The wanting to make alien abductions a wide spread experience is not one of the better tactics of those that write books and wish to push an alien abduction agenda of some sort.
As a result too many people assume they have been abducted by aliens because they have been assured by books, magazines and tv programs that their sleep disorder, mental health issue, drug related side effect, regular health issue is sign of alien abduction. It's rather like assuming that everyone in a wheel chair has a broken leg. Finding out if there are real alien abductions happening is hampered by the piling up of numbers, rather than the careful weeding out of people with real health concerns. As a result, the number of claimed abductions make a joke out of the experience, and people with real medical issues do not get the help they need. Indeed anyone being really abducted by aliens needs at least support for the extreme psychological stress they must be under.
One example of a not helpful abduction book is, "Encounters" by Edith Fiore, Phd. (also author of "The Unquiet Dead", seems she specializes in writing this sort of book). The book offers help so you can do self hypnosis to tap into your alien abductee memories. She then counsels that at the end of the book she offer resources for people interested in getting help. Well, I should think so! You see she lists her top 10 signs you have been abducted by aliens. I have to honestly say, almost everyone I know has at least one of these signs.
1.Inability to account for periods of time
2.Persistent nightmares and /or dreams of UFOs and/or aliens
3.Sleep disorders
4.Waking up with unusual body sensations
5.Appearance of mysterious marks on the body
6.Feeling of being monitored, watched, and/or communicated with
7.Repeated sightings of UFOs
8.Vague recollections of a close encounter
9.Unexplained healing of ailments of afflictions
10.Reacting with fear of and /or anxiety about UFOs and /or Ets
So what does she offer us at the end of the book, after one has done self hypnosis (which is rather like self surgery, perhaps best left to a well trained doctor), for help with dealing with this huge issue?
Well there are a lot of UFO groups, but not really helpful for dealing with a serious and traumatic experience like an alien abduction. Among the groups listed is Guardian Action Publications. They offer a free catalog of UFO material. Even better they are the "channel for the Space Command, extraterrestrials supposedly orbiting around our planet." I'm sure their free catalog will be of great help.
There is also the Institute for UFO Contactee Studies in Laramie, WY. They have an annual conference for abductees. That is wonderful, but what if you don't live near Laramie, WY and can't afford to fly to the conference?
Then we have someone listed that actually treats abductees. Rev.George Dew is the shaman and pastor of the Church of the Seven Arrows in Wheat Ridge Colorado. Is he qualified to medically examine an adbuctee to make sure there is no serious medical issue before his treatment? All alien abductees need a complete physical.
Alien abduction is a very stressful experience. It is a real experience. It should be treated with respect and careful treatment. If a shaman is a calming experience that one finds helpful it could be an adjutant to mainstream health care. But it's no replacement.
Simply put the lumping of too many vague symptoms is only hurting the study of alien abductions not helping. Also, the alien abduction experience is so traumatic that it is a kindness to stress that many people with these symptoms will respond to simple medical treatment and go on to live stress free and alien free healthy lives.
