Write your own ending
Keep believing, keep pretending"

One of the more exciting things about living is that we can make decisions that can change our life. Don't like where you live? Move. Don't like your job? Quit (you may not have any money, but that's a decision you can make) Don't like your spouse? Get a divorce.
In a way we do write the script of our life. And our perception of the world and our way of reasoning can really influence how we write our script. The problem is we are indeed the star of our own movie, and yet somehow expect everyone else to go along with our script.
Someone that believes in homeopathic medicine can see themselves as a crusader for truth, a grand martyr in the cause of something bigger than just themselves. The problem comes when the supporting players in the drama get involved. A homeopath may say "My child has cancer, but I am willing to sacrifice my child to the greater good of proving that homeopathic medicine cures cancer. " When the homeopathic water cure does not work, the homeopath will say "well traditional medicine often does not cure cancer!" Problem is, there is a supporting player, the child, who has to pay the price for the parents perception.
Homeopathics would also love governments and insurance to cover homeopathic treatments. I can assure you if this happens there will be a huge increase in the number of homeopathic practitioners and a huge increase in people taking water instead of drugs for their illnesses. For many, there will be no harm done (indeed traditional doctors see people every day that they can't help and that just need the cure of rest and time). Many people will have a new perception of the world, one in which water cures disease, and the supporting cast of their life will suffer from this perception.
Imagine a world where homeopathic treatment is paid for in the same way traditional medicine. Payment is basically the government or insurance providers way of saying that they also perceive homeopathic medicine as working, or at least worth paying for. One parent can say "traditional medicine" and another parent can say "homeopathy only" and since the government and insurance companies PAY for homeopathic care, the parent with the critical thinking skills will be unable to stop the parent that thinks homeopathic medicine works just fine from denying a sick child real medical treatment. Parents that use homeopathic medicine (or water) to treat their children would be free to deny a child lifesaving treatment like chemotherapy, and no judge could force them to use traditional medicine (also known as "what works")
This is just one example of how perception and the sense of stardom we have can create havoc and tragedy in the lives of others. The important thing when living your life is to remember that it is an ensemble cast, and your perceptions are not necessarily those of others.
